He was converted under Shubal Stearns, founded and built up one of the largest churches in SC in the 1700s. Did not support the Revolution, wound up being a pirate. Could he have been mistreated by his brethren who supported the Revolution? Nothing is ever as simple or as easy or as black and white as it seems. I am finding dear brethren in both the Independent and Southern Baptists, Who hold to the Doctrines of Grace. But how tragic it is that we shut ourselves off from one another.
