Half way to a million…

by Matt Svoboda on April 18, 2010

Well, we passed the mark of 500,000 hits today!  For the last 2 months we have been getting right at 1,000 hits a day!  I guess we can thank March Madness, 2 posts about money, and our friend Ergun Caner for that!  :)

One thing that I love about this blog is that we don’t have an “agenda.”  Most other SBC blogs in the blogosphere are quite known for having a pretty distinct purpose and agenda.  Here at Voices, we have a little bit of everything when it comes to contributors, even though some of them are very, very, very rare contributors.  ;)  Also, we are always open to new people writing for Voices.  While we mainly discuss issues within the SBC and ministry, it is great to have a diverse set of voices all getting to give their perspectives!

Will we make it to a million?  I have absolutely no idea.  I guess the answer to that is really: “if we feel like it.”  We, being the contributors and the visitors/commenters.  I have enjoyed running SBC Voices, it has been a year now and I have got to connect with a lot of great SBC pastors and church members.  That is really why I stay in the blogosphere… I dont have great insight into anything and I’m not the best conversationalist.  I simply love the people that I connect with.  A lot of you I meet here online and then many of you I now talk with on the phone and have met some of you personally.  It’s been a joy.

I also love the Southern Baptist Convention and I believe in its purpose.  We need blogs like SBC Voices in order to celebrate our convention and at the same time challenge it in order to make it better.  The conversations of the first 500,000 hits have been great…

And now the second half of the road to a million begins… May it honor Christ!

Thanks Brent… We will sure try to… If it gets bad, just let me know! I don’t want to be one of those guys that has an awful or hateful blog and yet tell myself I am doing a service. Don’t let me be “that guy!” :)
