For those of you who have been blessed with the opportunity to go to the Pastor’s Conference let us “others” know how it is going.
What has been powerful?
Who has been great?
What have you learned?
In what ways do you think this is edifying the pastors of the SBC?

J.D. Greear, Frances Chan and Doc Reid’s messages were great
David Platte’s message was lifechanging. I’m still trying to process through it.

Wow! (That’s Hebrew for “Wow!)
–I was really struck by the size of the crowd. It was very encouraging to see so many people.
–I was also encouraged to see “younger” people. While all age groups were represented, there was a good base of young pastors/ministers.
–Though not overly enthused at first with the docket of speakers, I was overwhelmingly impressed/challenged by all I heard (I attended Monday only morning and afternoon sessions).
–Chan challenged me to start loving the people again.
–Luter challenged me to wait for the power of the Holy Spirit so I can, along with my brothers and sisters, “turn the world UPSIDE DOWN!!”
–Eliff challenged me to forgive. So, I did — on m knees with a hundred or so folks in front of the stage.
–Swanberg gave me permission to laugh at myself.
–and some guy showed me that art is a wonderful way to worship our Lord and Savior via of all things — finger painting.
I look forward to carrying the spirit of the Pastor’s Conference to the meetings this morning and tomorrow.
I’ll be carrying my camera around. Say hello.

Oh, yeah! Gov. Huckabee gave a great challenge to be the leaders we are supposed to be — in the family first, then the church, and ultimately the government. More moral responsiblity will mean less government.

I hate to be a Negative Nancy, but…
I was not able to travel to Louisville and am laboring away in the church office this week, trying to keep up with the SBC online. Yesterday I decided to take time to listen to one sermon live, and I chose Mike Huckabee. I have been a fan of his for a long time (and still am), but I was pretty disappointed that he did not preach the Bible. It sounded to me like a campaign speech with an occasional reference to Jesus. I didn’t think it was appropriate at an event that is meant to showcase great preaching. I still plan to vote for Huck when he runs in 2012, but I don’t think he should be asked to preach again until we’re all sure that his political ambitions are over and done with.
That being said, I am very much looking forward to listening to the recordings of the other preachers, especially Luter and Platt. It sounds like it was a truly excellent preaching conference.
David Platt was phenominal! Sorry for the link, but I’m too lazy to re-type my thoughts on his messages… http://brushforkbanner.blogspot.com/2009/06/convention-highlight.html
