Alright people, I am needing resources:

What are the best books you have read on Leadership?

I recently posted about this very subject here: http://www.ronedmondson.com/2009/11/my-personal-history-of-leadership-development.html

As for books, Patrick Leoncini’s books have been most helpful.

To answer the title question, Jesus. ( I know it’s the church answer! But a) someone was going to say it. Might as well be me. b) I’ve been working through Matthew and Jesus’ disciple-making is a major theme there. And if “disciple-making” isn’t leadership…then I don’t know what is.)

One book you definitely want to read is “The Prince” by Machiavelli. Look at it as (unintentionally) “The Screwtape Letters” of Christian leadership. With that background, you may be able to catch some very unChristian leadership principles in other works you read.

I also found J. Oswald Sanders’ “Spiritual Leadership” very helpful a few years back.

“Leading with Love” by Alexander Strauch is outstanding. One of the best books I’ve ever read.

Even the most intelligent, most personable, most business-savvy leader is a clanging cymbal without love.

Ed Young, Jr. and Andy Stanley both have some great books about leadership.

Also, pick up Jack Kemp’s book too.

One book that changed my life was Henry Blackaby’s “Spiritual Leadership.” It kind of runs counter to some of the corporate-model stuff that is so prevalent in Christian books.

I think it some areas of evangelicalism the idea of leadership has become an idol. Just a thought.
