I'm voting for Les Puryear. I like his stance on the IMB appointment guidelines and on membership issues. Also, he has a great vision for including smaller churches (the majority of our convention) in the SBC's leadership. For more info, visit my blog at jakeporter.wordpress.com. I have a post with more detail on why I will vote for Les.

<em>Jake Porter's last blog post..<a href='http://jakeporter.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/amen-brother-dockery/' rel="nofollow">Amen, Brother Dockery</a></em>

I do not know Dr. Cox. If Junior Hill is nominating him he must be a good man.

Johnny Hunt understands the small church pastor. He was one for a long time. When he came to Woodstock he walked the streets the first year with little blue tracts winning everyone he saw to Jesus. Twice when I went to lunch with him he won our waiter to the Lord. My father never pastored a church over 400. From the time he retired until he went home in 1999 he said his favorite preachers were Johnny Hunt and Junior Hill. I have heard Johnny Hunt preach for 22 years. He has a heart for souls and preaches God's Word. Every year my pastor has a retreat for hundreds of small church pastors. I have attended as a laymen and been significantly challenged. When I travelled in my job I would call the church to see where Johnny was preaching. I would make a point to show up and never went to a church of over 400 members. Maybe you believe that because FBCW is large Johnny doesn't understand small churches. That is not true. I am willing to share my pastor with the Convention but if the leadership has other ideas it will not be a bad thing to have my pastor home in Woodstock.

My vote will be going to Frank Cox next week, he has the experience, CP commitment and vision that the SBC needs right now. After reading his answers in the BP questionnaire and his Q & A on www.frankcox.org i thought they were spot on. He also was a major leader if not the conservative leader when Georgia was going through their struggles at the state level. Dr. Cox's love for small church pastor's and his continued willingness to speak at churches of any size shows the heart he has for the kingdom and the SBC. So I feel that Dr. Cox is the right man for the President of the SBC.

I am a member of FBC Woodstock, GA. I was part of the congregation that called Johnny Hunt as pastor in 1986. There are about 250 of us. Johnny has led the church boldly. He preaches God’s Word as I understand it and as my Father, my Father-in-law and Great-Grandfather preached. I am happy to work in the City of Refuge at FBCW. Broken and disillusioned ministers come to Woodstock seeking healing. My wife and I know very little about their past. What we do know is they are families that need an expression of love. We open our home, our vacation home and our cabin cruiser boat to them. We are building a home theater to have a place to show quality movies to the COR families. Pastor Hunt led out church into this ministry. My dream is that we have a dozen or so SBC churches doing the same thing and maybe have periodic conference calls on how to better service our brethren. The goal of the City of Refuge is not necessarily to restore to ministry. It is purely for healing. The outcomes have been that the families leave whole and feel the support of the family of God. I am happy Pastor Hunt was led to this ministry.
