The Executive Committee is meant to be a coordinating and enabling group but in the last couple of years they have lost sight of their purpose. Gradually, they are seeking to take more of control over other entities. Instead of doing what they are supposed to do, they are gradually seeking to become the ruling elders of the SBC.
That is NOT acceptable.
Their Business and Financial Plan changes things in ways that need to be rejected, especially in this tumultuous time when the messengers may be asking for multiple investigations of the EC. It is not time to give this dysfunctional Committee governing power over other entities.
Without betraying confidence, the leaders of other entities have deep concerns about this report.
- Giving the Executive Committee the power to escrow CP funds if an entity does not acquiesce to EC control. Clearly, this comes out of frustration to the ERLC’s response tol EC overreach.
- Giving EC training and oversight over trustees that can limit the ability of the convention to do it’s work.
This report has shifted and changed. There are reports that the published plan differs from the one given to the entities for their perusal.
There are too many questions. Too many doubts. Please defeat this and send the plan back to the EC for further study.
