A federal judge silences the voices of opposition as the American Holocaust continues.
Yes, you read that correctly. According to such news sources as CNN and FOX NEWS, after the North Carolina General Assembly passed House Bill 289, which authorized the creation of a pro-life license plate during the 2011 legislative session, a federal judge declared the action unconstitutional.
This past Friday, 12-07-2012, U.S. District Court Judge James Fox ruled that a North Carolina legislative action to issue a pro-life license plate is unconstitutional. Judge Fox stated the action of the North Carolina General Assembly violates the First Amendment. Fox explained his action by stating, “The State’s offering of a Choose Life license plate in the absence of a pro-choice plate constitutes viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment.”
Judge Fox made his ruling in spite of the fact that North Carolina’s legislative body, representing the citizens of that state, had soundly rejected six (6) separate amendments to their action that would have authorized a license plate supporting the pro-choice movement.
The ACLU praised the ruling by Judge Fox. The ACLU had led the charge against the North Carolina General Assembly’s passage of House Bill 289 by filing a lawsuit to stop the specialty plate in 2011. The license plate would have featured two children with the words “Choose Life” printed above them.
Chris Brooks of the ACLU stated, “This is a great victory for the free speech rights of all North Carolinians, regardless of their point of view on reproductive freedom.”
Sadly and ironically, Judge Fox issued his ruling this past Friday, 12-07-2012, Pearl Harbor Day. Franklin D. Roosevelt said of 12-07-1941 after the Japanese Empire had attacked the United States of America, “Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy. . .” It is my opinion that the same could be said of December 7, 2012 in North Carolina as the American Holocaust against the unborn continues.
