Amazing things can happen when we all pull together. Recently I published an article on Voices about a dangerous bill AB2943 (See my previous article) that ultimately passed overwhelmingly in the California State Assembly and Senate, and needed only perfunctory approval in its final version by both houses. This law, backed by the LGBTQ, would have imprisoned pastors, and heavenly fined pastors for selling books, or hosting paid speakers that referenced God’s redeeming love and freedom from the sin of homosexuality. In these dark days, we were facing in California, I made an appeal for anyone who had influence with any elected official in the State House of California to please help us.
Today, we received this breaking news in the State of California:
Today is the last day of the legislative session in California, and Assemblyman Low just announced that he has pulled AB 2943.
This means that he will not bring this to a vote on the Floor today, which was the last opportunity for bills to be voted on this legislative cycle. So this bill will not and cannot go to the Governor to be signed into law this year. If a bill is not voted on by midnight tonight, it is dead.”
Praise the Lord for this miraculous victory! We are celebrating the goodness and divine intervention of our Sovereign God who rules and sustains the universe.
On this amazing moment, I do want to thank so many of you:
I want to thank Dave Miller who was deeply moved by our crisis, and courageous printed the article.
I want to thank Russel Moore for writing an impassioned appeal to the Governor of the State of California urging him not to support this bill.
I want to thank the Alliance Defending Freedom for vowing to fight the bill all the way to the Supreme Court.
I also want to thank all of you who prayed for us, and who may have used your influence with any official in our state to stop this bill.
This is a tribute to what we can accomplish if we unite in prayer and action for the glory of God. Yes, to God be the glory for the great things he has done!
