Word is that Brewton-Parker College has been reaffirmed by SACS. They are no longer on probation.
The Brewton-Parker website likely has more details than I have now.
This is wonderful news for the staff, students and supporters of Brewton-Parker.
I congratulate my friend CB Scott. Hopefully this good news will sustain him when Ohio State steamrolls the Crimson Tide.
Good news for C.B.
As CB stated many months ago…this would happen. He was correct! Good Stuff!
Yes, he did. I rejoice with those who rejoice.
As for the OSU win prediction in the opening post…I will anxiously await CB’s reasoned and moderate response. 😉
Thanks for the news, Dave.
Congratulations to Brewton-Parker College, Georgia.
I and many others have been praying for them.
And congratulations to C. B. Scott, Ergun Caner, Peter Lumpkins, and the other faculty and staff of BPC.
May God continue to bless and bring you many students.
May you always continue to stand on the inerrancy of the Word of God.

Great news. I’m so proud for the institution and the faculty and president.
I talked to CB and Peter at our state meeting last month. I know they are pleased. Our SBC education system, both state colleges/universities and seminaries, is in for a long term challenge. Major schools like Mercer (no longer affiliated with GBC), Furman (mostly independent of the SCBC), Baylor (can even win football games) look strong. What market there is for more marginal Baptist schools like BPC is difficult to assess, especially as one looks decades down the road.

I tend to agree. I have no hard evidence or strong arguments but, It seems that a challenge that you described is definitely out there.
I currently serve on a college board and what our market share down the road is going to be is an on going discussion.
There can be no doubt that online studies is the way to maintain relevancy going forward. Also, with the advent of tuition free accredited programs like University of the People there are going to be radical changes to the course of higher education.
I dropped by to see CB yesterday (I was down visiting family nearby). He’s been a bit busy to be online much, but said Hi, especially to Dave.
I’m disappointed he hasn’t logged on to respond to my insult against the Crimson Crud, but I know he’s been busy.
The most awesome thing about this story is the affirmation of the value of accreditation as an act of self-regulation with oversight from the accreditation agency. Congratulations to Ergun Caner for directly explaining and affirming the value of accreditation to the institution.
I thank all of you for your kind words. I also must state that those who truly deserve any and all congratulations for what has happened in regard to the reaffirmation of BPC’s accreditation with SACS most deservedly goes to the faculty and staff who made great sacrifices through this long and arduous process.
As is usually the case in such matters, it was the “foot soldiers” (support staff personnel) of Brewton-Parker College who overcame and won the day.
In addition, I want to thank the student body and the people who live here in South Georgia for fortitude, patience, and faithfulness through what sometimes seemed like a hopeless situation. (I have truly come to love these people.) They did not quit. They truly took seriously the rally cry, “I Stand With Brewton-Parker.” They stood and God has blessed their efforts.
Now do you have time to catch the rest of deer season?
Bill Mac,
I had to make a choice this season between hunting deer or DUCKS and BUCKEYES.
I chose to hunt DUCKS and BUCKEYES. It will be BUCKEYES first and then DUCKS.
Going BUCKEYE hunting on January 1 down in New Orleans. It will be an easy hunt. BUCKEYES don’t have enough sense to hide or run away. They just “Meyer” up in the mud and all you have to do is gather them up by the sack fulls. (Kinda like GATOR hunting only easier.)
Going DUCK hunting on January 12 down in Arlington, TX. Intend to make a King sized duck feather mattress from that hunt.
However, if by some strange turn of events, I get attacked by a little band of SEMINOLES while in Texas, I shall load the Colts,Winchesters and Remingtons up, saddle up my CRIMSON ELEPHANT and “smite them hip and thigh.”
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!
Love it!
Alabama and Oregon are the prime hunters this season! The others are pretenders.
