The California Statehouse certainly has the reputation of passing legislation that is extreme and activist against Christians and their Biblical worldview. Recently the Supreme Court struck down AB775, a law passed by the California Assembly and Senate and signed into law by the Governor, that would have forced pro-life clinics to post notices, and tell mothers they can abort their babies and have California taxpayers foot the bill via the state’s Medi-Cal program.

Unfortunately, while we like to think of California as “crazy,” anti-Christi,an forces are mobilizing all over. Iowa and Massachusetts both recently attempted (and failed) to pass regulations through their “Human Rights” Departments to regulate churches using their facilities as public venues then went about defining public use so broadly as to make just about everything except Sunday morning worship a “public use.” Thus, this is not, as some would argue, crying wolf or claiming the sky is falling or whatever other horrible cliche you want to use. Three years ago I attended an ordination service in Bartlett, Tennessee (Memphis area). Dr. Ken Storey, a retired pastor, preached the ordination sermon. He declared that in the lifetime of the young men being ordained Baptist pastors would be arrested for preaching that homosexual behavior is sinful. This California law is a “camel’s nose” that leads in that direction. We must fight this and all similar laws.
