It all came down to the wire in the SBC Voices NCAA Basketball Bracket Challenge. I faded out LONG ago, having picked Kansas and Indiana to square off in the title game.
Until tonight’s championship, my brother Steve, a Georgia pastor was in the lead. I would have loved for him to win. He is my older brother, but frankly, he was shorted in intelligence, charisma, looks and athletic talent in comparison to me, so having this victory would have meant something to him. Unfortunately, his picks had all played out and there was actually no way he was going to win, even though he had the lead.
Had Michigan pulled off the victory (and in a perfect world, they would have), Mike Leake would have been our challenge champion. Of all of the entrants, he was the only one who had Michigan winning it all. He would have won if they had won. But, in a fallen world, often evil prevails. Louisville won.
So, because of that, the top 8 spots in the challenge went to those who had picked Louisville. I will name them in reverse order.
10. Mike Leake 750 points
9. Steve Miller 1000
8. Clay Gilbreath. 1040
7. Eric Schumacher 1050
6. Jeremy Parks 1070
5. Clark Dunlap 1090
4. Daniel Harding 1110
3. Mxmcglam 1120
2. Jequillott 1150
1. MABTS06 1180
I have realized one of the real problems in this thing. I don’t really know who MABTS06 is. Or jequillott. Or Mxmcglam. So, the top three in the contest are anonymous.
There is a LARGE cash prize awaiting the winner, when identified. He has to drive to Sioux City to pick it up. It is so large I do not believe it can be mailed.
NOTE: Two of the mysteries have been solved. Our winner is Andy Hynes, a doctoral student at MABTS and regular contributor here. Also, third place goes to Matt McGlamery. Still don’t know the identity of the second place winner.
