I am only about a week late on this, but seeing that I have an earned doctorate in procrastination, that is pretty good. This is our SBC Voices “Fat Pastor, Fit Pastor” challenge, and it is officially underway (underweigh?). The following men have indicated they want to be in. If you’d like to join us, please feel free – you can get in at any time, though the longer you wait (weight? – sorry, I’ll stop now) the more of a head start the rest of us will have.
The goal, simply, is to lose weight between now and the end of the year. The challenge is designed to provide support, encouragement, accountability and prayer while we embark on this endeavor. Here are the guidelines.
1) All you have to do to be a part of this is let me know, either here or by an email to davemillerisajerk@hotmail.com. If all you want is encouragement, that is fine. If you want to be a part of the challenge, I need an official starting weight.
2) Between now and the end of the year, we will have monthly weigh-ins to see who is making the most progress. I will not publish your weight, but I am keeping records here. We will have two categories in the challenge – total pounds and percentage of body weight. There are no prizes other than the encouragement of a job well done. Since we are getting started so close to the end of July, our first weigh-in will be at the end of August.
3) We will post articles here from the various participants about their struggle and successes – designed to energize, encourage and hold one another accountable.
4) Please, pray for one another! Those of you who are skinny may not realize how hard this struggle is.
