There’s a whole thing going on with stained glass windows and Liberty University and Jerry Falwell and SWBTS and Jerry Vines that isn’t of too much interest to me, but in the midst of all of that, Jerry Falwell, Jr., President of Liberty University and spiritual advisor to the President revealed “shocking” news. Apparently, there is an “SBC deep state regime” involving Russell Moore of the ERLC. I’m not sure if Dr. Moore is leading this effort, but yes, it does exist. And, I’m happy to admit that I’m a part of it. You might be too!
By God’s Grace, there’s a large group of pastors, leaders, and laypeople in every state who would rather serve God than man, whose allegiance goes beyond the temporal to the eternal, who radically love their neighbors and enemies, and who refuse to bow the knee to spirit of the age. Guided by the Word and Spirit, trained in secret training schools that some call local churches and seminaries, this cadre refuses to let political aspiration be their main emphasis. Is Dr. Moore a part of this? Yes. His leadership is obvious and strong. I don’t get secret messages from him or anything, but he does speak publicly on these things.
I meet #SBCDeepState people everywhere. They’re the ones serving together in churches, families, and communities. They give, go, pray, and support the work of the ministry and the day-by-day operations of local churches. I don’t want to get in to naming too many names. It’s a subversive operation. Keep your eyes open. You will see them. #SBCdeepstate people are on Liberty’s campus too. Anyone who follows Jesus, sacrifices their life, seeks God’s Kingdom first, and refuses to bow the knee to the culture/state can join.
Last night, I rejected Falwell’s “deep state” accusation because I saw it rightly as derogatory. But, sleeping on it, I guess he is right. We’re everywhere, seeking to infiltrate and participate every church/community for God’s glory. And we’re just getting started.
Feel free to join the SBC Deep State. There are no organized meetings or mailing lists. No secret decoder rings or code names. But, open your Bible and read, attend an SBC church, and pray and you will receive your next instructions, should you choose to accept them ….
