It’s hard to believe that the SBC Pastors’ Conference is almost here. My flight leaves for Phoenix, AZ in just a few hours. I hope you are planning to join us Sunday evening and all day Monday. We have 12 preachers from 12 average-sized Southern Baptist Churches who will be lifting up the name of Jesus as they preach expositionally through the book of Philippians. Including today, we have only 2 days left before the conference. I’ve been posting a call to pray for one speaker each day until the day of the conference. I hope you will take a moment to pray for these men as they finish up their sermon preparations.
Bart Barber will preach during the Monday evening session of the Pastors’ Conference. He will be preaching Philippians 4:1-9. Bart is the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Farmersville, TX. He is a wonderful preacher, and we are excited to hear from him as he preaches at the 2017 SBC Pastors’ Conference.
Perhaps reading through the text of Philippians 4:1-9 will help you as you pray. The text below is from the new Christian Standard Bible published by Holman Bible Publishers. The preachers at the conference will be preaching from the CSB.
So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, in this manner stand firm in the Lord, dear friends. 2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to agree in the Lord. 3 Yes, I also ask you, true partner, to help these women who have contended for the gospel at my side, along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers whose names are in the book of life. 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things. 9 Do what you have learned and received and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
This video that was recorded at SWBTS and was previously published here at SBC Voices may also help you as you pray. Bart shares some ways that we can be praying for him at the end of the video.
