William Blosh(?)Dr Akin about the Openly Secular video.
Akin’s response – Baptists have a wonderful history of support of freedom of belief and conscience. I stated that publicly.
No other questions.
It was fairly predictable that this question would be asked. The question was poorly asked. The question should have been asked, “why did you not include some form of gospel explanation inyour presentation” or something like that. The guy started to get angry and rant and he is supposed to ask questions.
If you go to the mic, redeem the time!
The crowd affirmed Dr. Akin’s answer with applause.
As angry as that man was, he must be one off those evil bloggers :).
Perhaps his suit was a pair of pajamas?
Nerds
Yes.
Your point?
While I appreciate Dr. Akin and agree with his response, I am quite concerned about his willingness to link arms with this group.
“I am quite concerned about his willingness to link arms with this group.”
As you should be, Tim! The “openly secular” include atheists, freethinkers, agnostics, and humanists. In the Christianity Today report on this, Dr. Akin is quoted as saying to the Openly Secular organization “The future isn’t on my side. It’s on your side.” So why should you help them get to the future sooner, Dr. Akin?!
Actually, the future is on the side of the Church! I’ve read the end of the Book and I know how the future turns out for believers vs. the openly secular. “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”
“Baptists have a wonderful history of support of freedom of belief and conscience.”
Dr. Akin, take another look at Baptist history. Southern Baptist leaders used to scare the hell out of the world, rather than get chummy with it. What in hell should we link arms with?!
