Senegal Bound!

April 22, 2021 by Dave Miller

Last year in March I was headed for my tenth trip to the Casamance region of Senegal when this little virus started popping up. I tried to go back again in March and there was political unrest that stopped the trip (we were leaving Monday and the plug was pulled on Sunday afternoon). I plan to leave on Tuesday morning to head to Senegal (finally!) and assess what has been happening in the Essing region, a UUPG we have been trying to turn into a UPG. I will meet up with a co-laborer from Texas who works with the adjoining villages. We would appreciate your prayers.

I will be gone, Lord willing, for 2 weeks. Where I work there is no internet (actually no electricity or running water either). There have been signs that God is at work, but it has now been 18 months since I’ve been there (November of 2019) and I have no idea how it’s gone in the interim. We plan to visit the governmental and military authorities and then see the village chiefs (that is protocol in Senegal – you have to show respect) and then I will try to meet with the few believers in the seven villages where I work.

I have created my traditional “Massive To-Do List before I go to Senegal” and have no idea if writing any articles for Voices is going to get done. Maybe. I hope to return on May 10, but you never know.

Play nice while I’m gone, here in the SBC sandbox.
