Watch this ten minute video and you will see some interesting things about this Christian quarterback phenom.
Observations:
1) The way he deals with the receiver who dropped the easy TD pass should be shown to every leader.
2) His calm demeanor in the most difficult and tumultuous circumstances.
3) His prayer life. He prays continually throughout the game. I especially appreciated that he never asked God for the victory, but that in victory or defeat he would glorify Christ.
4) Timmy can do anything except sing. Oh, my, he butchers some praise choruses! But hearing an NFL QB “making a joyful noise” is pleasant.
5) I know there are a lot of haters out there, but this kid is genuine.
6) She will kill me if she reads this, but my daughter is single, Mr. Tebow, and is a good Christian young lady. I have her name and phone if you need it.
If anyone thinks I’m kidding about my daughter, think again. She’s never been one for arranged marriages, but I think she might go for this one.
DAD!
Sorry, Bethany.
But honestly, if I can make the Tim Tebow thing happen, is it that bad an idea?
Not entirely. But still!
great video.
Tebow is my new hero. I’m telling you….watching this video really challenged me to respond better to stressful situations, to bad situations, to respond better…by faith….in all circumstances.
David
By the way, I stole this off your Facebook. But honestly, you could develop quite a few pastoral leadership principles off of this video.
I thought you might’ve gotten this off of my FB wall. lol. And yes, we could learn a lot about handling life from the way Tebow deals with a high pressured situation in a secular environment… a place where the Christian faith is probably not celebrated.
David
They are really giving Tebow a hard time, but let us hope he continues to handle it with good grace. Would that we all could be as calm.
If only professional football wasn’t rank idolatry, I might get a little more into this…
We can’t all be as spiritually superior as you.
Sorry, comments like this just tick me off a little.
LD is a Bears fan…
That could make anyone grumpy.
lol…bill, that’s funny…thanks
I love Tebow the man, he seems to be the genuine article. I would not have him QB my fantasy football team though…
Eric,
He’s only 7-1 as a starter…on a team that was playing .500 ball at best before he took over. Tebow has the intangibles…things that cant be measured with stats….heart, smartness, toughness, and leadership ability….after all, lets all not forget that he played in the SEC!!!
David 🙂
Eric, you are right. I wouldn’t have him on my FANTASY team, but on my real team – absolutely.
And Vol, his team was 1-4 when he took over.
26 points this week in standard ESPN scoring isn’t bad for a Fantasy QB!
I have a tough week with my FFL QB sitiation. Rivers against the Ravens D, Grossman v the Giants or Yates against Carolina. I have ridden Rivers all year but that Ravens D scares me.
Of course Tebow goes against NE, who have had a suspect D, but are playing better
My son is into fantasy football. It annoys me. He doesn’t cheer for teams, he cheers for players. A team scores but he’s mad because Smith scored instead of Jones. It’s twisted.
You young whippersnappers don’t know how to cheer! It’s about teams!!!
Sorry, old guy rant – just couldn’t help it.
Fantasy football by and large is an abomination that should be banned.
Jeremy Parks,
I realize there is a debate as to the reality of rewards in heaven. Nonetheless, if rewards do exist in the hereafter, you have earned a high and vaulted one.
You are right sir, Fantasy football is an abomination.
I forgive you both for your unsportsmanlike attitudes. I’ll give you a few of many reasons to embrace the greatness of FFL.
Unlike you I was actually interested in the Seattle v St Louis game last week
Our league brought into fellowship an SBTC pastor and a BGCT pastor ( neither came close to winning the league )
Christians and non Christians participate in our annual draft which is alcohol, though not insult free
As old friends have moved away, several come back to town for our draft and I have been able to keep up with them through FFL
Lastly, it’s a blast !
Im a 54 year old die hard Cowboy fan though I have not seen a cowboy game in the death star (have been to several high school, college games and the Cotton Bowl )
I have been playing FFL for about 20 years with mostly the same group of guys. My FFL has never taken priority over the boys, and it’s kept my interest in the NFL when the boys have yet another off year
At least your teams off years aren’t as frequent as for me. I grew up a Redskins fan from the day I was born. Don’t worry though. I won’t think less of you as a Cowboy fan. (Congrats on your last win against us by the way.)
I actually used to date a Cowboy fanatic. We never married though. To many differences ;). The woman I ended up marrying follows college through Virginia Tech more than pro so there are never any sports quarrels there 🙂
How many evangelicals cried because of the pure awesomeness of Tebow in this video?
Over/Under: 1 million
CB Scott, I never like to disagree with you, but I must admit that I love Fantasy Football. I, for one, am someone who has never had a favorite team and never cared much about the NFL until the playoffs… Now I am in my 3rd year of Fantasy Football and I am much more interested on a weekly basis.
Fact is fantasy football brings more interest to the games. For instance, if it wasn’t for Maurice Jones Drew no one would ever care about the Jaguars… With FF everyone who has him or is playing against him cares a lot about the Jaguars.
