The EC Is Reminding Us Why Change Is Needed

June 14, 2021 by Dave Miller

As is normal, the Executive Committee is meeting today and they seem engaged in the task of reminding us just how badly change is needed there.

Ronnie Floyd has been regaling them with how wonderful “we are” and they have been taking actions that say the opposite.

Jared Wellman brought a motion to expand the investigation to include Rachael Denhollander’d suggested alterations. It was defeated. It becomes increasingly suspicious that Ronnie is seeking to use his investigation to avoid a real investigation.

Rumors have been swirling about actions the CBN-controlled faction will seek to take.

*They are increasingly setting themselves up as the SBC oversight board, seeking to become the ruling elders over the other entities. The Business and Financial Plan MUST be defeated.

*They are moving to do away with the ERLC and bring it completely under their control- a subsidiary of the EC. Heaven help us.

*There were nationally reported stories that the CBN group was going to seek to remove Rolland Slade, our first African-American chair, from his position.

*it is customary that the chair be allowed to nominate other officers and Committee chairs. Again, it is widely reported that CBN will seek to oppose Rolland Slade’s traditional right and seek to maintain their control over power positions.

Whether these things happen will be shown today.

There are good people at the EC. They need to stand up against the CBN power bloc, support Rolland Slade,  encourage Ronnie Floyd to stand up and be counted for good.

Now is the time to lead.
