(This was submitted a few days ago, but in my turkey stupor, I didn’t check the site or post anything).
It’s the final week of November,
What is there to remember?
Dave Miller asked of CB Scott,
“Why does Bama grapple for a playoff spot?”
He thinks they’re full of rot.
But little does he know,
The poll results show
It’s Iowa’s fault there’s still a chant of roll tide roll.
On to more important matters of state.
What’s happened in Baptist life as of late?
Arizona Baptists raised CP giving.
That’s right and holy living.
A pastor in the land of America’s best,
Faces indictment at the court’s behest.
His church says he’s guiltless,
And they’ll do their best
To support him while he is under duress.
Not much more happened while we all gave thanks.
Some stores were closed and all of the banks.
We ate some turkey and then tried to start
Our black Friday shopping at The Wal-Mart.
The aisles were so packed, my store served coffee
While everyone was on their pointless shopping spree.
I thought I heard King Solomon shout vanity, vanity
I spied a woman who looked like a zombie.
She said she just wanted socks
While she walked the aisles in a surreal state of shock.
When we finally left
The store was bereft
Just like this poem,
But I’m almost done.
When all has been heard and everything’s done:
Fear God and keep His commands because Jesus has won.
