Congratulations to Todd Littleton, (and his entire extended family) for running a fantastic campaign, coming from behind and winning an incredibly close race to become the 2012 Blue Collar Blog Madness Champion. Well played!
Let me mention the rest of the Final Four.
Joe Blackmon, who blogs at “Hear God Speak” forged his way into the finals as an underdog. In the finals, he garnered nearly 4% of the 1227 votes cast. Just making it to through the first two rounds is a great honor.
The same is true for Ricky Kirk and his blog, Panta ta Ethne. Ricky made a really good showing and won two tough contests to come out of the Sweet Sixteen. He received just under 7% of the vote.
But, it became clear pretty early that this was going to be a two man race, and that these two men were going to go all out to bring in the vote. Honestly, watching the two of them engage in good-hearted electioneering was so much fun. Todd Littleton had a family reunion, and Paul Thompson enlisted the aid of Hamm and Mr. Potato Head.
The vote was back and forth, so close that the Florida Recount team is thinking of reassembling for the first time since 2000.
Paul Thompson ended up 16 votes behind out of 1227 votes cast. He had 43.93% of the vote and had a great showing.
Of course, Todd ended up with 45.23% of the vote to squeak out a win.
And it was so fun to watch.
Now, Todd, please wait by the mailbox for your HUGE cash prize to arrive. I’m not sure when you will receive it, but it should be within the next 15 to 20 years. Of course, you will be included on our blog roll – a status symbol that means more than money.
Honestly, folks, this was a lot of fun for me, watching you guys. The campaigning was brilliant and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
