SBC Issues
I Disagree with My Friends
I realized something today, following Twitter and discussing issues over meals and with friends. There are a lot of issues on which I disagree with my closest friends in the SBC. On one election ballot, my wife put her x on a different number than I did. I could not convince her that complementarianism required her to vote like me. Hmmmm...... Over a dinner discussion today I realized that everyone else there voted differently than I did. I saw a tweet I couldn't have disagreed with more strongly and a good friend liked it. And every person I am speaking of here is part of the SBC … [Read more...] about I Disagree with My Friends

A Plea to Platform Personnel and Entity Elite
I get it and I agree. Social media is out of control. Bloggers and Tweeters give evidence of the works of the flesh far too often - more than we demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit. Guilty. Not just "them." Not just the discernment bloggers and Twitter terrorists - all too often I speak before I think, and pray. That's our burden, to do better. To show Jesus. I do not deny the truth of the comments you are making. But I do not think that all of the fault lies on our side alone. 1. The lack of transparency, the secrecy with which business is transacted in the SBC leads to a culture … [Read more...] about A Plea to Platform Personnel and Entity Elite
#SBC19 Registration Secretary Election – the most interesting choice among the officer elections
I’ve written already about the nominations expected for President, First and Second Vice President, and Recording Secretary. That leaves what may be the most interesting election of #SBC19 – for registration secretary. Two nominees have been announced at this point. Don Currence, who has served in the role for two years after working closely for years with Jim Wells, longtime Registration Secretary will be nominated by his pastor, Phillip Burden. Currence is the administrative pastor at First Baptist Church in Ozark, MO, and has served there for 26 years. Near the end of May, Jimmy … [Read more...] about #SBC19 Registration Secretary Election – the most interesting choice among the officer elections
