I’d go further than that. I think it should be an American citizenship issue. The so-called “Patriots” are not, and true American Patriots cannot cheer for them. Those who do should renounce their citizenship and move to North Korea. (Only slightly tongue-in-cheek.) 😉
I was born and raised in St Louis and am old enough to remember the football Cardinals being there. My grandfather was even a season ticket holder. Thus I was raised understanding the reality that the other teams in the NFC East (Giants, Redskins, Cowboys, and Eagles) were all the football embodiment of pure evil. While the Cardinals are gone that eternal truth still exists. Thus I cannot ever root for the Eagles. Period. And thus for me, the Super Bowl is much like the last Presidential Election. The Patriots may not be great, indeed there may be a lot… Read more »
Wow. For all that the Cardinals never gave their fans while they were in St. Louis, that’s loyalty! My wife was born and raised in St. Louis, and never gave the football team much thought, but you can’t separate her from her Cardinals baseball gear. As a native of Arizona, I have a little more appreciation for the Cardinals, but they’ve done a lot more there than they ever did in St. Louis.
Hingham is on the other side of Boston. Redemption Hill in Medford, Hope Fellowship in Cambridge, or Beacon Community in Belmont are great choices if you’re looking for something not far from Arlington.

I have to admit, I’ve been a New England fan since the Parcells era. Brady is GOAT, and well, maybe after admitting this, I should just send in my application to the CBF.
If you any of you have an Amazon Alexa, ask it who will win the big game.
It’s funny.

Since I have to watch it at 3 AM Monday morning (with other men from the church) I will admit I am pulling for the Eagles. Love the city. Love the quarterback (read an article yesterday of his heart to be a Pastor). And anyone from a place that sells “mana” gets my cheer. You can get your fill of mana at Geno’s in Philly.
It is a sign of a sad character when one must resort to hate upon the success of another. I’m positive there are theological implications.

Just enrolled a second time at Liberty University. A day later I learn Nick Foles is taking courses in the Divinity School in the off season to be a pastor. Also learned of the godliness of quite a few Eagles players. Hope he’s in a few of my classes. I’ll never be an Eagles fan, but I’ve only got room in my heart for one “America’s team,” and it ain’t the Pats. (Go Cowboys) That being said, I’m pulling for fellow LU student, pastor in training Nick Foles and my division rival Eagles to beat those Pats! And as to… Read more »
Why are my eyes rolling down the street?

Good thot.

I’m impressed that there is one SBC pastor who knows “tenet” from “tenant.”
But yeah, it should be added as the new “criterion” for the BFM but only for football season. Change to the yanquis for base as season.
Does the sin of cheering for The New York Yankees (I prefer Skankies) rise to the level of denominational exclusion?
Yes. Absolutely and unequivocally, yes!
Not A Tough at all issue.
😉
Come to the dark side. The chowdah is great.
Warmly,
A New England Southern Baptist pastor who lives in the same town as Belichick 🙂
I was. Looking for an SBC church last time I was there.
South Shore Baptist in Hingham. Next time you’re in town lunch is on me.
Anywhere near Arlington? That’s where my son lives.

Then only SBC church that was reasonably near us over Christmas had an evening service, not morning. We were leaving by then.
Brady is a republican. God is a republican. Repent sinners!
GO PATS!!!
Hmmm…..

You might not be able to stop at the CBF, but might have to slide on down to the AoB!
I have friends in the CBF. I think I’ll call them tomorrow. 🙂

The only good thing about tomorrow’s matchup is that one of them will lose.
Lol!
The bad thing is that one of them will win!

The Cowboys would make better fellow students, as they don’t spend any time in January dealing with football.
