Yesterday, we reported that some NOBTS students have planned to write an open letter to Jack Graham and wear “I Love CP” t-shirts during Tuesday’s chapel service. I’ve been able to talk with another of the students involved, Devin Haun, since yesterday’s article. His story is fantastic and will be available in an upcoming post very soon.
Dr. Kelly also tweeted yesterday that Jack Graham had contacted Chuck Kelly and asked for a Q&A time with students following the chapel. This Q&A session is in the works and sounds like it will take place. I don’t have any information on the format or location at this time.
I also talked with someone at NOBTS today and he wanted to let folks know that Jack Graham earlier had called Chuck Kelly and offered to not come and preach at chapel. Graham was scheduled for chapel long before news of the Prestonwood escrow situation broke. Graham apparently realized the situation could be awkward for Dr. Kelly, but Dr. Kelly turned down that offer and asked him to come anyway – that it was more important for dialogue to continue than for communication to stop. Many of these details were also reported yesterday in an excellent article in the North Carolina Biblical Recorder.
I assess all these as positive indications and thoroughly commend the NOBTS administration for their handling of the situation.
