It’s time for the week in review, and since there was very little happening in our Baptist world, I give you “Twas the Night Before Impeachment.”
‘Twas the night before impeachment,
And all through the house,
Adam Schiff could be heard
Starting to grouse.
The charges were written.
They claimed they were fair.
In hopes that the public would soon start to care.
While out in his district,
The homeless still slept
In what ‘ere they could find
Cause Schiff was inept.
While Grandma needs medicine,
The Democrats have been
Chasing round rumors
Of Trump’s grievous sin.
When out on the mall there arose such a clatter,
It made every pol stop all their chatter.
Away to their districts they flew like a flash.
They found us Americans were tired of this trash.
When what to their wandering eyes should appear?
There’s folks who don’t care about Twitter out here.
They don’t care about polls, the news, or debates.
They just want some work done for their sakes.
But they wouldn’t listen,
They were all so aloof.
They said Trump is guilty,
And we have the proof.
The people all said, this is just such a waste.
Please do your jobs and do them post haste.
Then in he came
His virtue to claim
There was no quid,
There was no pro,
And there certainly was not even a quo.
They questioned him right
Up till the daylight.
When they finally grew tired of this meaningless plight.
They all found out what we’d known some months in advance.
In the Senate it takes 66 to evict.
There weren’t 20 Repubs who would vote to convict.
But it’s for our republic said one for them all,
While hyping the socialists and Medicare for All.
In the end what a waste
What a pipe dream they chased,
And I heard as Trump sat in the oval that night,
Next time you impeach, try kryptonite.
