Vote For Your Favorite SBC Bloggers

The SBC blog conversation has fallen on hard times, but a few of you guys are still out there. Here’s your chance to make a bit of a comeback. This is the 3rd annual blog madness for SBC Voices. This is round #1 and will end Sunday 21 March at an undisclosed time. The final winner will get to pick $200 in WTSbooks. Voting is restricted by IP, so there is only one vote per connection. If we’ve left off an important blog, leave a comment and we can get it added ASAP. My apologies for weird seeding, we’ll have a better idea of where people stand after the first round.

If I may disgrace myself a little here…

Thankfully we aren’t trying to put a ball in a basket, we have a chance to let politics play a role. With that being said, I say we Vote for Change!!! Meaning- vote for the good- ‘small time’ blogs!!!

Not to be hater on anyone, but does Denny Burk, 9Marks, Alvin Reid, or Trevin Wax really need $200 for books! Can’t they just read their own. ;)

2 volfan007 March 17, 2010 at 12:44 am

Wow, Matt, thanks for leaving SBC Today out of it.

David

3 Matt Svoboda March 17, 2010 at 1:13 am

David,

We did a post asking for blogs people felt should be in it that werent in it last year. No one said anything. We cant get them all, we are perfect. Which is why we asked for help, none was given.

Say something for next year and we will be sure to get SBC Today in it. Please don’t be crude about this- we didnt even put our own blog in the running.

4 Mark Lamprecht March 17, 2010 at 6:30 am

volfan007,

SBC To-what? What blog is that? ;)

5 volfan007 March 17, 2010 at 10:07 am

Matt,

Crude? I was just wondering why? No problem here, Brother.

Mark, :)

David

6 Matt Svoboda March 17, 2010 at 10:09 am

My apologies… I read you wrong.

But seriously, be sure to remind us next year so we can include it. I know it is significantly more popular than many blogs on here.

7 Mark March 17, 2010 at 10:14 am

David,

I understand as I was left off last year.

Not that I am anyone to deserve being put in this competition. I mean…look who I’m up against!

8 Tim G March 15, 2010 at 10:40 pm

I agree with Matt – share the wealth – I cannot believe I just typed that!

9 Matt Svoboda March 15, 2010 at 10:47 pm

haha… That’s hilarious.

10 Debbie Kaufman March 19, 2010 at 11:13 am

Haha. This statement will be printed, framed and put up for auction on Ebay. haha.

11 Aaron Armstrong March 15, 2010 at 10:58 pm

I will vote for Matt. But I may ask him to return the favor. Someday.

12 Matt Svoboda March 15, 2010 at 11:01 pm

It appears no one listens to me, which is understandable…

But, I repeat- 9Marks, Between the Times, and the like are in no need of money for books!

Yet, they will probably win, simply because they have better blogs…lol

But who doesn’t love a Cinderella Story?!

13 Tony Kummer March 15, 2010 at 11:15 pm

Everyone can find a good home for books. Michael Spencer gave away all his prize money last year in ESV Study Bibles to people offline. The year before it was Steve McCoy giving away “The Reason for God.”

14 Matt Svoboda March 15, 2010 at 11:18 pm

Thanks a lot Tony… That was the only thing I had going for me! lol

By the way, nice humble move in taking Voices out of the race! All that time I have put in for nothing! ;) So all of you who would of voted for SBC Voices(which I am sure is a majority of you) you can just throw that vote to me at Coram Deo- it is the same person!!! lol

Okay, I am done with my shame-less promotion…(for today)

15 Mark Lamprecht March 15, 2010 at 11:29 pm

Tony, you know we’re just having fun!

16 Mark March 15, 2010 at 11:07 pm

I agree with Matt too! LOL

If 9Marks wins does that mean Mark Dever gets the books? ;)

17 Cuatro March 15, 2010 at 11:22 pm

Still fairly new at blogging… allennelson4.wordpress.com

18 Terry Delaney March 16, 2010 at 12:36 am

Do I really stand a chance to make it out of the first round? This is nuts!

19 Quinn Hooks March 16, 2010 at 7:19 am

Looks like I am going to the bloggers equivalent of the NIT :D

20 Doug Hibbard March 16, 2010 at 5:30 pm

As many of us say, maybe next year….

21 Ed Goodman March 16, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Where is Hershael York’s “Confessions of a Pastor” blog?

22 Matt Svoboda March 16, 2010 at 5:02 pm

Ed,

Dr. York didnt have 10 posts since last years competition and there are a lot of other SBC bloggers that have been much more active so we decided to trade them out.

23 Josh March 16, 2010 at 3:48 pm

What’s up with that? I just received word that I am in the West division. Not sure how that happened since I am in middle TN :)

24 Matt Svoboda March 16, 2010 at 5:30 pm

I would just like to thank my (not so)small group and church family that not only reads my blog and knows my love for books, but also is taking the time to come to a blog they’ve never been before to vote!!!

25 Matt Svoboda March 16, 2010 at 7:58 pm

Micah Fries= The People’s Choice

26 Micah Fries March 17, 2010 at 7:29 am

unbelievably strange isn’t it? ;-)

27 Matt Svoboda March 17, 2010 at 10:11 am

Can I have your autograph?

28 Micah Fries March 17, 2010 at 12:29 pm

sure, for a small “donation” ;-)

29 Matt Svoboda March 17, 2010 at 12:32 pm

How about a $200 gift card for books? :)

30 Mark Lamprecht March 16, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Rigged!

31 Marty Duren March 16, 2010 at 10:23 pm

If I win, I promise to give away every one of the books.

That I don’t want.

32 Ed Stetzer March 17, 2010 at 12:26 am

You guys are at it again. Sigh. This is so wrong. Unless I make the Sweet 16, than it is just mostly wrong. If I am in the Final Four, I just have a mild objection.

Of course, I have no chance with Tom (the Hammer) Ascol in my division. It is already predestined.

But, that’s OK. I’m with Matt. Micah is the People’s Choice.

And, of course, Between the Times is great. (I am contractually obligated to say that since I am an infrequent contributor.)

Go Micah, crush Ascol before he crushes me. ;-) All for God’s glory, of course.

God bless,

Ed

33 Matt Svoboda March 17, 2010 at 10:13 am

Everyone hear that??? Ed Stetzer says, “I’m with Matt.” Oh yeah.

34 hariette petersen March 17, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Matt, if this were a real Cinderella story, then I would be best suited for the part, don’t ya think? I mean, lowly little me up against the likes of Ed Stetzer, Tom Ascol, B21, and Turk? I mean, hands down, I am superior to Peter Lumpkins. Ha ha ha….but how can a little old lady who lives in a shoe possibly compete against Old King Cole, and Pied-piper folks? ya know? Ah, but there’s always hope. Hope that the serfs of this world will find a way to a computer and log on and find a way to storm the castles and make me Queen–even if it is only for one night the ball before the clock strikes midnight. SelahV Today

35 Ed Goodman March 17, 2010 at 1:46 pm

I understand about Dr. York’s inactivity, Matt. How about including “Living With Fire” in next year’s competition? I’d do it for the infamy of being the first person ever to receive zero votes. ;-)

36 Brother Hank March 18, 2010 at 11:24 pm

4 votes, yes! My readership is finally peaking! lol. It must be the Pro-Family caucus coming out in force…! :)

Lawn Gospel: Babies Love Us.

37 Barry Wallace March 19, 2010 at 7:46 am

Hey, Tony. This competition is a lot of fun. Last year I heavily promoted my blog, but decided against it this year. I’m not blogging as much and trying (not all that successfully, by the way) to spend less time online. As always, I appreciate the sense of community you’ve fostered on this site and others.

38 Mark March 19, 2010 at 3:09 pm

So….Matt….

How in the world are you getting so many votes? Your paypal account must be busy!

39 Matt Svoboda March 19, 2010 at 3:41 pm

One word- networking… or wait… bribing. There it is.

40 Debbie Kaufman March 19, 2010 at 3:46 pm

How about networking with bribing.

41 Debbie Kaufman March 19, 2010 at 3:49 pm

This trash talk is coming to easily. It’s just wrong. :)

42 Quinn Hooks March 19, 2010 at 11:03 pm

It there like a couch and bag of chips for those who lose so they can watch the rest of the tournament? :D

43 Marty Duren March 22, 2010 at 10:58 am

In protest of not advancing to the second round, I hereby shall not advance to the second round in 2011 either.

44 Alan Cross March 22, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Finished 3 votes shy of missing the second round. Oh well. That was my goal. But, I did come in around 18th in total number of votes, so that isn’t too bad. Yes, the shameless promotion continues even when I lose . . . :)

45 Tony Kummer March 22, 2010 at 4:56 pm

Round 2 has begun.
