Wow! I made the Final Four! I’m up against the big boys, though. I’m Butler and VCU combined. Cinderella of Cinderellas. No chance to beat the mighty Stetzer, Brister, and Fries, unless, well – yes, Al Michaels, I do believe in miracles! A vote for Downshoredrift is a vote for the little guy! It’s a vote for all those small blogs written by pastors that are read mostly by the folks in his church and the random guy from Bulgaria. It’s a vote for hope and change (no, scratch that). It’s . . . it’s a vote for America! Yeah, that’s it! If you love the troops, vote for Downshoredrift!
Too much? 🙂
Alan, that’s the best self-nominating speech I’ve read. I had to vote for you after that.
It is important to remember that at SBC Voices, we encourage shameless electioneering during blog madness.
I’m pulling for Alan. The others (well, we haven’t heard from Micah yet) came on all humble and complimentary to others.
You go, Alan.
Just trying to liven things up a bit, Dave, with some self-deprecating campaigning. Like “Timmy,” I’ve known Micah, Ed, and Tim for several years now and any of them would make a fine, deserving champion. I’m just happy to be here. I respect my opponents. We’ll see what happens and hope for the best. (I’m using all the “coachspeak” I can remember) 🙂
NO! NO! NO!
Way too much graciousness going on here!
Russell Moore didn’t make it? Not even Stetzer can hold a candle to Dr. Moore. That’s the biggest blown call EVER. Sad.
I voted for Alan Cross because he only lives about half as far away as Ed Stetzer, and is therefore twice as likely to come up here and beat the snot out of me if I don’t.
Ed Goodman,
You are right… could not hold that candle.
Bob,
Best reason I have heard all day.
All,
Now, as of this moment, Micah is in last place so I used my vote to support him. Alan is good, but he does not live in Missouri. That counts for something in my book. Brister is great, but it is hard to call a grown man “Timmy.” 😉
Vote Micah.
Ed
Ed, your logic, as always, is unassailable.
That may be the fake Ed Stetzer . . . . also known as Micah Fries.
Tony, if I was up earlier I would have definitely done something like that, but alas, it wasn’t me. None the less, Ed Stetzer says you should vote for Micah Fries, so I’d take him at his word. He is, you know, kind of a big deal. 😉
Go, Micah!
Well, I am going to take Ed Goodman’s comments in the best possible light and interpret them to mean that I was the underdog. I do regret, however that it has result in sadness. I’m in it for the blog madness.
Yo Stetzer, when was the last time you called me Timmy?
For the record, I personally know and appreciate Micah, Alan, and Ed, so I’m grateful to be in the last round with them. Thanks SBC Voices for putting this on again for another year and allowing us to have fun with it.
In defense of Timmy, it’s hard to change your name when it’s also your domain url.
Ed, just wait until Micah and Timmy start their “get out the vote” campaign. They have grass-roots field workers spread out all over Blogdom. It’ll be a close race between the two of them. You, well, you’re Stetzer – read far and wide by Southern Baptists, Assembly of God, Methodists, Nazarenes, Quakers, Amish, Mennonites, Huguenots . . . and the Pope, I think. Wasn’t he talking about church planting among the younger unchurched just recently? Anyway, I’m the darkhorse (yes, I’m dramatically playing the undercard role hoping that there are a good contingent of “Rocky” fans out there who will vote for the little guy).
Bob, no chance of beating you up. You’re a celebrity down here in Montgomery – I keep seeing you on those Saturday morning informercials for your eye doctor up in Birmingham.
Alan and Timmy,
I still love you both.
Should I tweet this contest to make it exciting? 😉
Ed
Oh, please do. To be mentioned in an Ed Stetzer tweet – the SBC Voices team could die happy!
Ed, didn’t you get those Amish congregations you met with recently about church planting and reaching the young Amish to start following you on Twitter? That was quite a feat. Generations of history bowed the knee to tweetdeck for the iphone and @edstetzer. Once you bring in the farmers of Lancaster and York, it will be over for all of us. 🙂
It just occurred to me that someone might think I’m criticizing Ed by saying that he isn’t “Southern Baptist” enough because he works with other groups. Hardly. For the record, I am actually complimenting him on how far into the corners of Christendom his influence reaches. Can’t be too careful these days, even when kidding around.
By the way, vote for me!
(Happy, Dave? :))
Yanks won yesterday, I’m always happy!
Well, there went my lead.
If you tweet about it Stetzer, is that like a denominational employee making a recommendation for a candidate? I thought you can’t do stuff like that? 😉
Since I’m officially a part of the John 3:16 boys, I’m expecting all my Arminian friends to cast their vote for P&P. For the love.
Kummer, if only timbrister.com wasn’t taken back in 2005. :/ BTW, remember Ask Anything and the 9th inning rally?
I’ll vote for the little guy, especially since I’ve never heard of the others.
Come on! Let’s go Timmy…. I mean seriously.. does Ed Stetzer need anymore books?!
I am not going to be Cross, nor do I want Fries with that. And when it comes to Mr. Ed, I have to say “Of Course Of Course”…..but nothing leaves me breathless like Provocation and Panting – where men are provoked to take their pants back and put them on one leg at a time (in a pre-determined order, of course, of course).
Oh, my!
Congratulations to Provocations & Pantings for winning. And thanks to Tim for taking my comments in the best possible light…..my “sadness” was simply a matter of my favorite blogger (Dr. Moore) not winning. I never root for people to lose. Everyone has an opinion, however, and mine is that Dr. Moore is the best in the blogosphere.
But the people have spoken, and I concur with them that Mr. Brister is a brilliant blogger. It was nice to get to read some outstanding blogs that I had never seen before, and Dave Miller did a superb job with this event.
Oh, and Ed Stetzer, your humility is contagious…..even if you can’t hold a candle to Dr. Moore lol. But you are still the best ecclesiologist I’ve ever known. Much love to everyone.
