Commenting Philosophy at SBC Voices

I appreciate the intelligent and lively discussions we have here at SBC Voices.  I thought it would be good for me to say a little bit about my philosophy and approach here.   I have made a few small changes since I was appointed editor, and so I thought I should let you know my philosophy and policies for blogging and commenting. The Future of SBC Voices?

Just to start this thing out, let me say that I don't really read this blog. While I am the one who launched it a few years back and worked to get it off the ground, I've moved on. It's just not something I think about more than once a month. The rare exception is when I become curious about some SBC issue. It's time for another transition and I am talking to a few people about taking on Matt's duties. Matt Svoboda Named New Editor Of SBC Voices

After days of intense negotiation, I have designated Matt Svoboda as the new Editor of SBC Voices. Matt is the founder of the Evangelical Village blog and been a regular contributor to SBC Voices. I will continue as technical administrator and contributor, but Matt will be in charge of daily operations. I am excited about his plans and confident he can take our site to the next level. I've had some internal conflict the last few weeks about my blogging. This is nothing new, and I expect most Christians have struggled with the right use of this technology. I just sent out the January edition of our Baptist Buzz email newsletter. It's the easiest way for you to keep up with what's being talked about on SBC blogs. Every month, I summarize the leading conversations and links some example posts. Why are we doing a newsletter? The simple answer is this: I wanted to open up a 2nd communication channel with our readers. The email list gives our most loyal readers an additional contact point with SBCvoices. Tweaking Our Wesbite Layout

Last night, or rather early this morning, I finally found some time to tweak the layout here on SBC voices. The main goal was to move our blog posts to the front page while retaining the aggregation boxes front and center. The easiest way to do this was using the "sticky post" feature from the latest version of WP. I also backed off the number of items displayed in those boxes, but never fear - we now have a SBC blogs directory page that displays the a much longer list of recent posts - something like 15 buzz posts and 50 latest posts. Over the last month, some of you have asked about my editorial policy for SBC Voices. So, I want to give everyone a snapshot of what I'm thinking. It many not clear up the confusion, but it should give you some idea of what to expect. What Is Our Editorial Perspective?
