Re-Introducing The SBC Voices Blog

September 25, 2008 by Tony Kummer

On Monday 9 September 2008, I'm going to release the writers of SBC Voices upon the world. That sounds a little more dramatic than it should, but I am really excited about where this website is going. You've all known about our listing of SBC blogs. This has been and will continue to be the heart of this website. But I think it's time to expand into more on site conversation too. The net result should be more interation across the entire SBC blogosphere. Here is what you can expect. 1. Sending Traffic The best way to grow a blog is to send people elsewhere. It's ironic but true. The DNA … [Read more...] about Re-Introducing The SBC Voices Blog

Temporary Problems With The SBC BLog Feeds

July 4, 2008 by Tony Kummer

Over the next few weeks I'll be working to restore many of the feeds here at SBC Voices. The story is a little complicated, but my failure to backup has created some issues. I will be manually re-tagging the feeds, which will restore everything to its proper category. A few people have emailed me to ask what is going on. Let me assure the conspiracy theorists among us that no SBC Voice was deleted on purpose. My aim has always been to give equal coverage to the great and small among us (the wrong and right as well). The "feed recovery" efforts should take about 10 hours total. … [Read more...] about Temporary Problems With The SBC BLog Feeds

Taking A Break From Baptist Buzz

June 17, 2008 by Tony Kummer

One quick programing note: I've removed the Baptist Buzz feature from the main page and sidebar. Here's why. I'm going to be really busy the next few months: final Seminary classes, new baby, extra work at church, etc. There are 150+ new blog posts every day here at SBC Voices - that equals about 10 - 25 minutes of blog reading just to find the good ones. 5 hours of feed reading each week is a lot The convention buzz is settling down now. Will Baptist Buzz Return? If there is a great outcry and I find a better way to do it. But for now just read all the other categories that I've … [Read more...] about Taking A Break From Baptist Buzz

Final Four: 2008 Blog Madness at SBC Voices

April 3, 2008 by Tony Kummer

Today we had a few buzzer beaters and last second lead changes. But here are the surviving blogs. 997 votes were cast in the second round, bringing the total number of votes to 1823. Unfortunately, that number is not asked for on the ACP. A lot could be said about who has made it and who was eliminated - but I'll leave that up to the comments and conspiracy bloggers. Keep Your Eye On The Prize(s) First Place: $50 Amazon gift card & a copy of The Wit and Wisdom of Pastor Joe Brumbelow Second Place: A copy of The Wit and Wisdom of Pastor Joe Brumbelow How It Works The … [Read more...] about Final Four: 2008 Blog Madness at SBC Voices

Second Round: 2008 SBC Blog Madness at SBC Voices

March 30, 2008 by Tony Kummer

The Final Four has begun After 770+ votes and nearly 50 comments, it's time to advance the final 16 Southern Baptist blogs to the second round of Blog Madness. The first round focused on the relative influence of these bloggers. For this session I want you to consider the helpfulness of each blog, especially when they write about SBC related issues. Or suppose that Baptist was going to carry one blog post a month from from four blogs, which blogger would you suggest? Update: New prized added - read more here. Despite all my hard work, I was only able to manufacture a small measure of … [Read more...] about Second Round: 2008 SBC Blog Madness at SBC Voices

2008 Blog Madness at SBC Voices

March 23, 2008 by Tony Kummer

Update #1: I've had to edit some vote totals due to irregular polling results. In other words, please don't vote 33 times for your same blogger from the same internet connection in a matter of 2 minutes! I've also made the polling security a little tighter to discourage those excessive displays of affection. This will make make it harder for voters from the same IP to vote. Sorry I had to lock the doors. If anyone has notices erratic jumps in results, please let me know and I'll check it out. Last September, Les Puryear wrote a post on his blog titled Who's Who In SBC Blogging. I was … [Read more...] about 2008 Blog Madness at SBC Voices
