Since I don’t really care that much about the NFL (at least not while important things like Yankees baseball are still going on), I’ve watched the foofaraw about replacement refs with amusement. I would make two observations:
1) Everyone complained non-stop about the REAL refs, so some of this is just sour grapes.
2) Think about it, folks. The New England Patriots are 1-2. The Pack is 1-2. New Orleans is 0-3. Can we really say this is a bad thing? We have to admit the replacement refs have done some level of community service.
Anyway, in addition to apologizing for those observations, I saw this clip and thought I would both share it and apologize for it.
My deepest and most humble….
My usual disclaimer is: “I’m an equal opportunity offender.”
GRRrrrr!
These replacements are making the same calls, and same mistakes that the union guys would have made. The only difference is these replacements lack the conviction to make the call quickly and without fear. They also have placed on them the stigma that somehow they are less worthy of the position than the union refs. If these exact calls were made by the regular refs, people would complain for a few minutes, and then forget about it because they are the refs and their word is law on the field. Coaches, players, and even fans are taking advantage of these… Read more »
Mention Yankees, and most Southerners could tell you tales about how they rode up on their hoses, burned the home place, seized the valuables…..O I forgot, you are talking bout that baseball team of prima donnas. My son is bonkers over Reggie to this day, and our pastor preached Catfish Hunter’s funeral…O by the way, it was on the net recently about Reggie being converted.
horses…
Thank you. I was ever so puzzled as to how they managed to ride hoses. 🙂
I would have like to see them on hoses, too. Probably like the old stick horses of childhood.
your point #2 is dead on.
I sometimes wonder if there are any Patriots fans left outside of the NE. The amount of disdain for them is pretty amazing and nearly universal.
Nothing new to add. Just, “hahaha….. ”
Until baseball is done, football will stay on the periphery. Then somewhere around January, I will become moderately interested. (but not a moderate – important clarification).
Amen.
I’m just glad to learn a new word–“foofaraw.” Nice one!
The players themselves have the right not to play under these conditions. These refs are doing the very best they can with the level of experience they have. Keep in mind, there is a great cloud of witness watching over us and I’m sure the refs that are in our churches are receiving allot more mercy than we are giving our football refs. We must be careful not to judge too harshly and show the same patience that is shown toward us. Then again, the Texans are 3-0, that may be why I’m so spiritual now.
I want to point something out to those who think we bloggers can’t have any influence. I posted this about 2 PM yesterday, and within about 10 hours they solved it!
I feel so proud…
One question, Why are all the Union busting folks “yelling”, bring back the real Ref’s.?
Because their teams lost. You didn’t hear Seattle or Baltimore fans!
Absolutely great and funny parody and video!!!
