I am emerging from my personal hibernation to address an issue and give some information about SBC Voices. I am coming out of probably the worst 2-year period in my life - I won't bother to regale you with all the details, but COVID hit me hard and hit my church hard. Big news last night for the SBC and larger evangelical world: Russell Moore is leaving our ERLC to take on a new role with Christianity Today. Moore's resignation is effective June 1, with VP Daniel Patterson serving as acting president at that time. Last Monday I posted a letter I received from John V. Rutledge, that was clearly racist and expressed low regard for the intellectual capacities and Christian understanding and commitment to the biblical faith. A common response to the Rutledge letter from some Southern Baptists (SB) was that he was not representative of the SBC, and he has not been active in the SBC for the past 20 years (although he was active for 50 years).
