I've been in Des Moines the last couple of days at our state's Executive Board meeting. Our hotel provides free internet, which is good because it is so close to no internet at all that if I paid for it, I'd be fairly upset. I read of the newest SBC scandal that has arisen, that Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary has at least one Muslim student in its archaeology PhD program. The SBC Plodder usually cuts through the fog and does so here. I am reticent about Calvinism-related topics, but this one seemed newsworthy and worthwhile. Thank you, William. Danny Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, preached a chapel message on October 16th to address what he called a "faulty and jaundiced view of who we [SEBTS] are." The presidential search team at the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary plan on presenting Dr. Jason Allen as their nominee to be the next president of the institution.  The process has raised the ire of some bloggers, one in particular who has now at least twice posted a list of trustee addresses (which are publically available) while encouraging others to write and express their displeasure.  One of the main issues is the desire of the search team and trustees to keep details of meetings and other aspects of the search process in confidence. What's that you hear?  Crickets.  As in, no sound at all.  As in "no comment." The sounds of silence -- emanating from the normally loquacious, but apparently public relations challenged leaders at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft.
