GUEST POST: Young-Preachers- Finding a Place to Preach

April 4, 2011 by SelahV

[First posted by David Brumbelow, at Gulfcoast Pastor] When I attended college, I was surprised to meet young preachers who had never preached. They had felt God’s call to preach. They had surrendered their lives to the ministry. They were being educated to follow that call. Yet they had never had the opportunity to preach. Others I met had only had the chance to preach once or twice. Part of the blame goes to their home pastors. Pastor, if you have a young man who surrenders his life to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ - give him the opportunity to preach. Let him bring a devotional in a … [Read more...] about GUEST POST: Young-Preachers- Finding a Place to Preach

SBC Voices is BEING CLOSED

April 1, 2011 by Dave Miller

I did not think they would be able to do it, but the powers-that-be who have not been pleased with some of the things that we have written in the last few months and a great injustice is being done. A secret group of powerful men has convinced a judge in Nashville that SBC Voices, in using the term "SBC" has falsely presented ourselves as the official voice of the Southern Baptist Convention.  They have threatened us with a multi-million dollar lawsuit if we do not shut down. We have secured the services of Howell Scott, who was on the "O.J. Simpson Dream Team" with Johnny Cochran and … [Read more...] about SBC Voices is BEING CLOSED

Tim Rogers Announces Second Pastor’s Conference in Phoenix

April 1, 2011 by Dave Miller

Longtime blogger Tim Rogers has announced plans to set up a second Pastor's Conference in Phoenix this summer, because so many Baptists are upset with the list of speakers that were announced by Vance Pitman for "Aspire", the established Pastor's Conference. While details are still sketchy, there have been a few speakers and musicians announced. Keynote Speaker:  Steve Anderson from Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona will be delivering some old-fashioned Baptist, fire and brimstone preaching. Tim has released a clip of a sermon he will be presenting himself, addressing … [Read more...] about Tim Rogers Announces Second Pastor’s Conference in Phoenix

So, available here for the first time is the tentative proposed order of business for the Annual Meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention. I can't tell you where it came from for at least the next 15 years, so I hope you understand. There's a rumor that the Pastor's Conference may have a similar … [Read more...] about The SBC Annual Meeting: Secrets Revealed
